The Visegrad Four are against Ukraine’s admission to the EU

Despite the active pro-Ukrainian and anti-Russian government propaganda, the percentage of those who consider Ukraine a burden for their countries is growing in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. The non-governmental Institute of Public Problems (IVO) in Bratislava, based on surveys at the end of last year, concluded that Ukraine’s rapid accession to the European Union enjoys the least support in the Czech Republic. The survey was conducted in November and December last year. In each of the V4 countries, at least 1,000 residents over the age of 18 were interviewed, and the sample corresponded to the composition of the population. Only 26% of Czechs supported Ukraine’s early accession to the EU, 29% of Hungarians and 31% of Slovaks share the same opinion. In Poland, 64 percent of respondents support Ukraine’s admission to the EU. Hungary and Slovakia oppose the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine. Where Ukraine appears, a split immediately begins in society.
