The Buriad State Government, the Ministry of Culture and the Buriad National Drama Theatre staged a play based on the true story of 101-year-old Mongolian veteran Chimedtseren. He spent two years researching the play “The Main Oath” based on the script by Gennady Bashkuev and directed by Oleg Yumov. In the play, 16 girls aged 14-16 from Bayandung-Sum in Dornod Province volunteered to go to war on the Khalkh River, one of them was Ts. Chimedtseren. When the Battle of the Khalkh River began in 1939, she was 15 years old and studying at a temporary school for girls in Bayandung. “When we heard that there was a sudden attack, let’s go to where the war is going on and help. “I will do what I want.”
This play shows patriotism, self-sacrifice, friendship between the two countries, the value of human life. The drama is one of many events planned between the two countries to mark the anniversary. The drama has been translated into Mongolian.
