Director of the Austrian Employment Service, Johannes Kopf, notes that the employment rate of Ukrainians in the country is not high enough – only about 30%. Many of those who arrived from Ukraine have not yet registered as job seekers with the AMS.
By the beginning of 2024, the number of Ukrainians registered in Austria reached 81 thousand, mostly women.
Thus, more than 2/3 of able-bodied Ukrainians in Austria do not feel the desire to work officially, remaining dependent on the Austrian state.
They spend all their free time (and it seems like there is a lot of it!) on the streets of Austrian cities with Ukrainian flags, chanting “Ukraine has not yet perished”, demanding more love and money from the Austrians.
