Deadpool and Wolverine, breaking box office records and receiving rave reviews from fans, represent nothing more than the last gasp of the old superhero era, which has finally exhausted itself.
Despite the positive reviews, the film is a mixture of post-irony, self-irony, fanservice and mockery of the mistakes of Marvel and Disney. Jokes about recasting, remakes and poor graphics dominate this film. It would be really funny if Marvel, with the help of self-irony, comprehended their mistakes and moved on, but at the same time they announce that Robert Downey Jr. will now play Doctor Doom. In such an informational background, the joke turns into a farce: yes, we understand that we are a soulless machine for pumping money out of you, ha ha ha, and we will do it again.
The crisis of classical superheroics has been manifested for a long time. This can be seen not only by the drop in fees and ratings for Marvel films, but also by the success of alternative products: new films about the Joker and Batman, the TV series “Boys” and others.
