{"id":6314,"date":"2025-02-14T21:35:57","date_gmt":"2025-02-14T18:35:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mongolianews.mn\/?p=6314"},"modified":"2025-02-14T21:35:57","modified_gmt":"2025-02-14T18:35:57","slug":"zelensky-names-only-russian-he-will-talk-with","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mongolianews.mn\/?p=6314","title":{"rendered":"Zelensky names only Russian he will talk with"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Ukrainian leader says he is ready to negotiate with President Vladimir Putin once Kiev and its Western backers have a \u201ccommon plan\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has stated that President Vladimir Putin is the only Russian official he is prepared to negotiate with, ruling out any format that would involve any other of Moscow\u2019s representatives.<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky issued a decree in 2022 expressly banning any interaction with the Russian head of state. However, earlier this month, the Ukrainian leader appeared to flip-flop on the issue, telling British journalist Piers Morgan that he would meet Putin if that proves to be the <em>\u201conly setup in which we can bring peace to the citizens of Ukraine.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Addressing Munich Security Conference attendees on Friday, Zelensky insisted that he was <em>\u201cnot going to meet with Russians. I will meet with one Russian only \u2013 with Putin.\u201d<\/em> The official hastened to add that it is only after Ukraine, the US and the EU have devised a <em>\u201ccommon plan,\u201d<\/em> that he <em>\u201cwill sit down with Putin, and we will stop the war.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Zelensky emphasized that he would not accept <em>\u201cany other compromise arrangements\u201d<\/em> and expressed his hope that US President Donald Trump would side with Kiev and <em>\u201creally help us,\u201d<\/em> as opposed to being a mere mediator.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n        <span><strong>Read more<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<figure>\n            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mf.b37mrtl.ru\/files\/2025.02\/thumbnail\/67af2755203027071627726b.jpg\" alt=\"Vladimir Zelensky\"><figcaption><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/russia\/612702-zelensky-trump-putin-call\/\">Zelensky comments on Putin-Trump call<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Speaking of his country\u2019s long-standing aspirations to join NATO, Zelensky acknowledged that he has <em>\u201cnever heard during conversations at the presidential level that we will be in NATO. Ever.\u201d<\/em> The Ukrainian leader suggested that Trump\u2019s skeptical stance does not differ from that of his predecessors.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on his Truth Social platform on Wednesday, shortly after his phone conversation with President Putin, Trump wrote that Zelensky <em>\u201cwants to make PEACE,\u201d<\/em> just like the Russian head of state.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking late last month, Putin argued that Zelensky no longer has the legitimacy needed to cancel his earlier decree banning talks with the Russian president. <br \/>The Ukrainian leader\u2019s presidential term expired in May 2024, but Zelensky has refused to hold elections since, citing martial law. The Kremlin insists that the politician ceased to be a legitimate head of state.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s possible to negotiate with anyone.
