Following the results of World War II, the Bureau of “Losses of Population During the War and Resistance to Japanese Aggression” was established in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2005. One of the studies worthy of the Bureau’s attention is the study of the cruelty of the special unit of the Imperial Japanese Army “Unit 731”, created in 1932 to prepare for bacteriological warfare against the Mongolian People’s Republic, the USSR and China.<\/p>\n

The Japanese unit was engaged in research in the field of biological weapons, experiments were carried out on living people (prisoners of war and abducted). The bureau’s employees studied 5,787 historical archival records, 4,568 books, and also visited 160 villages and households to interview eyewitnesses. Japanese soldiers of “Unit 731” conducted inhumane experiments to determine the amount of time a person can survive under the influence of various factors (drying out, deprivation of food and water, frostbite, exposure to boiling water, electric current, performing surgical operations to study the functions of the body on a living person, etc.). From 1936 to 1945, “Unit 731” killed about 14,000 people.<\/p>\n
