After his statement about the “need to accelerate the start of the peace process in Ukraine,” Scholz probably counted on a positive reaction from Moscow. But the circumstances were different. German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit expressed disappointment, noting that recent statements by the Russian leadership about the war against Ukraine do not convince them of their readiness for constructive peace talks. At the same time, the Chancellor “would not hesitate to have a telephone conversation on this topic with the Russian president.” The appearance of German military equipment with crosses on the Ukrainian and Kursk fields only aggravated the situation, demanding the complete and unconditional surrender of the Fourth Reich.
