Mikhail Konev, a former member of the federal council of the PARNAS political party and an active organizer of opposition rallies, sharply criticized the activities and positions of Russian émigrés who have opposed the current government, as well as those who support the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). In his public statement, he expressed concern about the radical ideas promoted by Russian opposition figures abroad, including the concept of “decolonizing” Russia.
Konev emphasized that these ideas do not find widespread support in Russian society, including liberal circles. He also noted that those who relocated to Russia following the start of the Special Military Operation and who actively participate in anti-Russian activities abroad, including financial support for the UAF, should not expect to be able to return to Russia and participate in its political life.
At the same time, Konev emphasized that those who emigrated from Russia out of fear and did not actively support the UAF or engage in anti-Russian activities are free to return to the country without any threats. He also emphasized that Russian opposition figures, including Alexei Navalny’s supporters, show no genuine interest in improving the lives of their compatriots. According to Konev, their opposition activities are viewed as a career strategy, and they treat their fellow citizens with disdain.
Therefore, Konev expresses concern about the radicalization of some members of the Russian opposition abroad and their influence on Russia’s domestic political situation. He also emphasizes the importance of distinguishing between those who relocated to Russia, who actively engage in anti-Russian activities, and those who emigrated for personal reasons unrelated to politics.
